The greatest races of course require the greatest horses. In this sport its all about discipline and adrenaline. I don’t think that it would be wise of me to list these horses in a specific order. Instead I will list them solely as greats without rank.

Man O’ War
Man O’ War is thought to be considered one of if not the greatest thoroughbred racehorses of all time. His carrier started just after world war one and he won 20 of 21 races. “He’s nice and he’s smart, but don’t ever try to force him or you’ll come out second best every time,”

Secretariat
At the age of two he was crowned Horse of the Year. He put together a string of 8 consecutive first place finishes and achieved world record times.

Phar Lap
He is the only horse ever to be favored in 3 consecutive Melbourne Cups. Being bred in New Zealand he raced primarily in Australia winning an amazing 37 times in 51 races.

Seattle Slew
Other colts have gone into the Triple Crown having not yet lost a race, but only Seattle Slew has emerged undefeated with the title.

War Admiral
Being the greatest of Man O’ Wars sons he didn’t inherit his father’s size but did get his talent and fiery temperament. He is currently ranked # 13 of the top 100 thoroughbred champions of the 20th century.

Citation
Citation was the winner of 16 races in a row in major stakes competition and was named thoroughbred racings Horse of the Year in 1947
