Kentucky Derby Contenders: Cowboy Cal Profile

Stable mate Why Tonto edged favorite Cowboy Cal by 1½ lengths in the $77,000 Hallandale Beach Stakes at Gulfstream Park last month, but for awhile there it was looking good for the Tropical Derby winner. Cowboy Cal opened a one-length lead against Why Tonto through a half-mile in :46.12 and led by a head through six furlongs.
