Based on that performance alone, Pyro has catapulted from being a Kentucky Derby contender to being a Kentucky Derby favorite at 5/1 odds to win. Some are saying that he could be our next Triple Crown winner…and here’s why:

1. Pyro trains with Curlin and has pulled in equally fast times.
2. At Risen Star, Pyro ran his final quarter-mile in an estimated :22.30. That’s beyond impressive.
3. Pyro had not raced since his runner-up performance Oct. 27 in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

Only time will tell how well Pyro will perform against all other Kentucky Derby contenders.
